Integrated waste management sanitation works

The project was presented at the Cooperation System of Informatica Trentina S.p.A. with ICT companies of the territory, in a meeting on December 5, 2006, held at the Cantine La Vis – Lavis (Tn), on the theme of Best practices in the development projects of local Information and Communication Technology companies .

The Servizio Opere Igienico Sanitarie (Sanitation Works Service) of the Autonomous Province of Trento has been using systems that provide services in A.S.P. mode for several years now; whether outsourced or managed by themselves.

One of these services was developed on the Linux platform and has been operating since 2003 with an application for the management of water treatment analysis data (S.I.D.A.L.) and its related information.

It was recently expanded with integrated waste management and disposal, which was in fact the subject of the presentation.

Based on the (MasonSQL) Framework, which takes advantage of the AJAX technology, the system allows centralised data management with distributed users, without needing to keep the application installed on their PC's. This it accomplishes without slowing down and without losing control of the application, which is necessary for this type of application.

The discussion demonstrated the development modes used (Extreme Programming) as well as the technologies adapted and the results achieved using an alternative model that uses Open Source components such as (Linux, PostgreSQL, Apache, Perl, Mason & MasonSQL, Reportman, and e-p-i-c Eclipse ).
